Facing our Shadows

Great Sand Dunes - Feb 2026

What was once a figment of my imagination is now here...again.

Looking back at many of my dreams, visions, and inner knowings, the ones that left me breathless have, in one way or another, come to pass.

At the same time, I've learned something important.

In my waking moments, not every synchronicity is meant to be taken at face value or a sign from the Divine. Sometimes the mind creates meaning to close open loops. Sometimes anxiety, trauma, or old conditioning is looking for resolution. And sometimes our spirit is inviting us to look deeper and alchemize the shadows still waiting to be seen.

Over the years, I have become accustomed to facing my own shadows.

Every fear I was willing to face.

Every wound I was willing to feel.

Every shadow I was willing to bring into the light.

There is a strange comfort in it. I can sit in it.

Over time, I've learned that wholeness is not about becoming someone else. It is about becoming intimate with every part of yourself.

The parts you celebrate.

The parts you hide.

The parts you're still learning to understand.

I've learned that the parts of ourselves we deny, suppress, or hide do not disappear. They grow stronger in the dark. They influence our choices, our relationships, and the stories we tell ourselves.

But when we turn toward them with honesty, something shifts. The shadow stops being an enemy and becomes a teacher.

The goal is not to destroy the beast within. The goal is to understand it, tame it, and integrate it, to release what caused it.

The more whole we become, the less power our hidden wounds have over us.

Perhaps true freedom is not found in becoming all light, but in learning to embrace every part of who we are, even the shadow.
