April 2025 - Me climbing Mt Saint Helens
"On the mountains of truth you can never climb in vain: either you will reach a point higher up today, or you will be training your powers so that you will be able to climb higher tomorrow" -
"You must be ready to burn yourself in your own flame; how could you rise anew if you have not first become ashes?"
Friedrich Nietzsche
I read these quotes recently, and it reminded me of a written piece that was inspired by the climb of Mount Saint Helens in April 2025. They were so fitting for the rumination of burning my own self, my own fears, and judgment as I struggled to climb the mountain because I have lost the line between reverence and fear of the mountain.
-----
You can be in the mountains and still not find peace.
Peace is not stillness.
Peace is the fierce perseverance to face your chaos, to confront your false beliefs, your insecurities, your fears, your ego and come out on the other side holding your ashes in your hands.
No amount of mountains climbed,
no number of trails hiked,
will give you sukha (true inner peace and bliss)
until you face yourself and make peace within.
No amount of spiritual healing will save you without facing your truth (that’s called spiritual bypassing).
Only then will you ever find it.
Be intentional with your climbs.
Surrender the ick,
brave the mirror,
and say thank you, but I’m ready to soar higher.
Face your chaos.
Stop running from your truth.
No mountain will carry you higher
until you carry yourself through the fire….I only know because I was there too.
You got this. I'm rooting for you!
Break the Pattern .
